ANTHROPOLOGICAL GEOGRAPHY
The built-up area is made up of 13 localities: Baraveyes, Barche, Chenoz, Chez-Croiset, Chez-Sapin, Cors, Fagnan, Les Crêtes, Misérègne, Perron, Pléod, Pommier and Tillier. With the exceptions of Chenoz and Les Crêtes, they stand along the road which cuts across the territory between Tilliers and Rovarey. In the past other localities existed, like Chez-Cuignon, Chez-Humbert, Chez-Fontillon, Chez-Machet, Chez-Ramain, Clapey, Etravers, Glirey, Molina, Pareynaz, Rovarey, and Solier, later encompassed in the larger localities. Of recent, wooden road signs have been put up with written upon them these names from by-gone times in order to conserve their memory.
Due to an unfavourable climate, the development of human settlements in the mountains is limited to small villages, used mainly for summer holidays and the movement of livestock. |
